The History Of These Covers
In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, a Biblical revival
began in a little church in Costa Mesa, California called
Calvary Calvary Chapel. This revival spread across the
United States and around the world, and would be, and
still stands, as one of the great Christian revivals of this
generation. My life personally was greatly impacted by this
revival, along with reading about the great awakening revivals of times past. One of the things that
happened during those days was the appearance of a large
number of Bible covers, made mostly of leather, with various
Christian symbols on them, like the fish, dove, and/or the cross.
These kinds of Bibles were carried by a bunch of saved
long-haired hippies who longed for the Word of God and had
the unmistakable love of the Lord Jesus Christ in their lives.
We would like to bring some of those leather Bible covers back,
which is why we are bringing back this line of leather Bible covers to
you today.
How The Cover Is Made:
In short, what happens is that the
original cover of your Bible is completely removed, and is replaced by a
hand-made leather cover (which is glued directly to the binding of your Bible)
that has a warm rustic look to it. Such a cover has a way of making the
Bible "uniquely yours." So please take a look at our leather covers…and pray
with us as we seek the Lord about making them available on a larger scale.
IF YOU ARE ORDERING THROUGH THE MAIL:
Here are some guidelines for ordering through the mail: 1] Please package your Bible and mail it to me at the address given below. 2] I recommend that you send your Bible via 3-Day Priority Mail with a green delivery- confirmation tag (this gives you a computer-traceable number so you can track your Bible coming to me; I will send it back via the same means). 3] Please specify the style that you would like (plain cover, no flap; single snap-flap; or wrap-around back to front with two snaps). 4] specify which emblem (cross, dove, fish) you would like in the lower right-hand corner of your Bible along with your first, middle, last initials (if desired). 5] Turn- around time is about two weeks. 6] Enclose a note with your name, address, phone-number and e-mail address (if you have one) along with a MONEY ORDER OR CASHIER'S CHECK for the price of the cover (see prices above) plus $5.00 for return shipment to you. As a general rule, leatherbound Bibles (and USED hardbacks) are easier to handle. This is not intended to discourage you from sending us a new hardback Bible for a cover. Rather, we wanted to let you know this (as a footnote) just in case you were thinking about sending a hardbound Bible to us. So far, we've been able to do every Bible that has been sent to us (hardcover or softcover). And in the last couple of years that we have been making the Bible-covers, the results and quality of work has been met with complete customer satisfaction.
